If you haven’t delved into newly elected President Joe Biden’s plans on the future of the country, green energy is king. With plans to return the United States to the Paris Climate Accord and a marked investment in both electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy, the Biden administration is looking to pivot from fossil fuels to pure, clean energy. So what does that mean for your business? Well, laggards may be left behind. So make sure you’re sitting in the driver’s seat when the transition happens—not only for a better tomorrow, but for the well-being of your company.

Why Is Clean Energy Important in the Workplace?

Clean energy usage in the workplace is a vital part of day-to-day operations. Not only does it show your dedication to environmentalism, but it also can lower your tax liability and improve your bottom line.

But you don’t have to think about clean energy on a dramatic level. At the least, replacing all the lightbulbs in your office with energy-conserving LEDs is a major step. But if you have the budget to add solar panels, you can also get tax credits in certain states while dramatically lowering your energy bill. The result is more capital to invest in staff, operations, or expansion and a win-win situation overall.

Why You Should Consider EV Charging Stations at Your Business

If you’ve listened to the news over the past year, you’re probably familiar with EV companies such as Tesla, Workhorse, Lordstown Motors, or Nio. Each of the companies are in the midst of an EV revolution, transforming the way that people travel and commute. And with each step these companies take, auto giants such as Ford and GM aren’t far behind.

The result is a cataclysmic vault into EV infrastructure. With every EV produced, the need for charging stations increases. However, these charging stations are few and far between, especially outside of major cities or the West Coast. But you can still do your part.

By installing EV charging stations at your business, you can encourage the use of electric cars while also providing your employees with a perk they’ll appreciate. While in the short term this may lead to a better company culture, the long term might include employee loyalty and longevity with your company.

Hire a Clean Energy Consultant to Turn Your Business into a Lean, Green Machine

Creating a green business isn’t easy. With all of the regulations, tax laws, and variable costs, it’s difficult to know where to start. That’s why you should consider a clean energy consultant. These individuals have a strong knowledge of the ins and outs of clean energy while also offering helpful tidbits to lower your costs and increase your bottom line. Don’t go into green energy blindly. Let one of these experienced individuals transition you with ease.

While clean energy isn’t yet the national or global standard, making the first steps toward renewable energy can reap a load of benefits. Not only will you boost your business reputation and social responsibility, but you’ll also get in on the tax breaks and other financial instruments that can reduce your expenses. With a one-two punch of reducing your carbon footprint and business costs, you can forge ahead to profitability in the near future.

Our team of renewable energy consultants is here to assist and get your business ready. Contact us to schedule an appointment and discuss all the options available for your business.

The post Is Your Business Ready for Clean Energy Development in the Future? first appeared on 3 Phases Renewables Inc.

If you’ve read the news at all, you’ve probably seen all the hype about electric vehicles (EV). American companies such as Lordstown Motors and Tesla, as well as Chinese manufacturers such as Nio and Xpeng have dominated the headlines. Even Ford and GM have focused their energy on this segment with the latter revealing the intriguing Electric Hummer earlier this year. And while many investors are skeptical about overvaluations or the actual expansion rate of EVs, the truth remains that these cars are the future of how the world will travel.

A Logistical Nightmare…At Least at First

But behind each one of these companies lies a logistical obstacle: charging stations. Without widespread availability of charging stations, giant segments of the U.S. and global population can’t transition from gas to electric vehicles. Interestingly, few EV manufacturers not named Tesla have tackled this problem, instead opting to focus their resources on improving the range of EVs and the life span of batteries.

However, many companies are stepping in line to fill the void. Blink Energy, EVGo, ChargePoint, and Volta are just a few of the leading producers of charging stations with their eyes on the U.S. market and beyond. According to the AP, the U.S. currently has about 20,000 fast-charging public ports with an average charge time of 30 to 40 minutes. The idea here is to give EV drivers the ability to recharge while shopping or running errands.

That said, most EV charging station companies are focusing their energy on only 30 or 40 markets. With a vast majority in California, Texas, Illinois, and New York, these charging stations underserve some of the smaller U.S. markets. Yet with EVs making up only 1.3% of car sales in the United States, time is on the side of manufacturers.

A New President and New Hope for EVs

President Trump made early statements about the importance of coal and fossil fuels to power the country. To some degree, he wasn’t wrong, as these fuels power a vast majority of the country. However, the transition to green energy solutions wasn’t in his vision.

But Americans, EV makers, and charging station manufacturers should be more optimistic about the future of EVs thanks to the election of Joe Biden. With a $2 trillion green climate and energy agenda, Biden will likely support the wholesale adoption of EVs, especially with his vision to add 500,000 charging stations from coast-to-coast over the next four years. In addition, he plans on extending the $7,000 federal tax credit for electric car buyers, furthering the appeal to even more Americans.
In addition, the EPA is set to review fuel economy requirements during the Biden presidency, increasing the likelihood of EV cars winning favor with consumers. With this renewed faith in the industry, EV charging stations will continue to pop up with alarming speed.

The Near-Future of EVs and Charging Stations

Despite the challenges faced by EV and charging station manufacturers, the near-future appears bright. The next few years will set the tone of the EV industry, but it’s one that should send a spark through the automotive marketplace.

With the House, Senate, and Oval Office up for grabs, many citizens are hoping that a push of the blue wave will make some sizable changes in U.S. policy. And while foreign policy and social issues are at the forefront of debates and media coverage, renewable energy remains a huge part of political agendas moving forward. In a world of continued greenhouse gases and a reliance on fossil fuels, that’s great news for environmental activists and those looking to create a greener future for the planet.

But the question remains: Can the U.S. be powered by renewables by 2035? It’s a tough question to answer, yet many experts say it’s entirely possible.

The University of California at Berkeley Report

According to a new report from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California – Berkeley, the reduced cost of renewable energy should lead to a substantial rise in renewable energy. So much so, in fact, that the report estimates that 90% of the country’s energy sources should come from sustainable sources by 2035.

What makes this report a point of contention is that it halves the time that many experts deem a reasonable expectation for renewable energy sources. Prior to this study, most sustainable energy experts pointed to 2050 as a doable date for a shift to a majority of renewable sources. But as the costs of battery powers, solar panels, and other technology becomes more feasible and politicians promote greener policies, 2035 suddenly becomes realistic. And that’s exciting news for a plan to lower warming to a maximum of 1.5 degree Celsius.

Dependency on Public Policy

Without strong public policy toward green energy, however, the plan for 90% renewable resources by 2030 becomes moot. Therefore, a reemergence or long-term switch (several years) to fossil fuels will derail any opportunity to reach this goal. Thus, politicians will have to reach across the aisle to ensure that environmentally friendly initiatives continue to pass through local, state, and federal governments.

What Renewable Energy Sources Will Provide the Change?

While solar power has become an integral source of power for people’s personal homes and small businesses, other renewables have emerged as strong contenders for reshaping how we get power. This includes:

Wind power

Hydroelectric power

Geothermal power

Bio power

As these are still expensive sources, a balance must be struck between these sustainable energy sources and other options such as coal, oil, and nuclear power. But as the prices of operation fall, these green energies should continue to emerge as the preferred power source.

Our team at 3 Phases Renewables is always on the forefront of the latest information, technology and requirements to assist you. Rely on our energy consultants to assist you on your “Go Green” journey in order to maximize your benefits and increase your bottom line.

Other Benefits of Renewable Energy by 2035

In addition to the reduction of temperature linked to global warming, renewable energy by 2035 will also usher in an unprecedented number of other benefits. According to the report, this includes:

A reduction of $1.2 trillion in health and environmental damages

85,000 less premature deaths from 2035 to 2050

Cheaper power bills than today (adjusted for inflation)

A 27% reduction in carbon-based emissions

Plus, the number of jobs created will no doubt provide more opportunities for people, especially in rural or blighted areas.

With the emergence of renewable energy solutions at lower operating costs and on the verge of profitability in the near future, sustainable power sources may be closer than you think.

According to recent statistics, the United States is on the verge of an electric vehicle (EV) boom. As of March 2020, the country had over 25,000 charging stations and up to 78,500 charging outlets nationwide. In addition, companies such as GM, Tesla, Nissan, and Toyota continue to ramp up their efforts to build an electric car empire within the next five years. But the profit potential isn’t limited to automotive manufacturers. Electric car-charging stations are becoming an option for entrepreneurs. If you’ve thought about starting your own venture, car-charging stations may be a viable business.

Why You Should Start an EV Charging Station Business

The growth of the electric vehicle market is a huge reason to start an EV charging station business. Based on statistics from the Edison Electric Institute, the number of EV cars hit over 1 million in 2018 with projections of the market hitting 3 million by 2021. In addition, the same study shows that over 18 million EVs will hit U.S. roads by 2030. With such an uptick in the number of EVs, starting an EV charging station business seems like a no-brainer.

Adding to the allure of starting such a company is that many small, medium, and large businesses have begun to add EV charging stations at their offices. Both employees and customers are typically allowed to use the stations. As a result, the installation of such charging stations can boost employee morale, customer perception, and company reputation.

But Are EV Charging Stations Profitable?

Charging stations certainly have perceived profitability. Yet hurdles still exist. One of the greatest obstacles is dealing with demand charges. Demand charges are a momentary rise in the cost of electricity during peak hours levied by energy companies. As a result, the rise in cost during peak hours must be offset by the price, much like the ways that Uber and Lyft have surge pricing.

The current problem is that there aren’t enough EVs currently to make most EV charging stations profitable during peak hours. However, the rise in EV usage and the current projections mean that the innovators and early adopters could reap monetary benefits within a few years.

How to Start an EV Charging Station Business

Many clean energy companies can facilitate and streamline the process of your EV charging station business. Not only can they help you sort out a great location, but they can also install the charging station and provide routine or emergency maintenance. Furthermore, these companies make certain that you receive any tax credits in your state or municipality. As a result, you can minimize your costs while also receiving tax breaks.

Commercial vs. Private EV Charging Stations

Commercial-grade EV charging stations are available to businesses and consumers alike. However, many private EV owners opt to charge their vehicles by using their home outlets or a home-friendly fast-charger.

Read Also: HOW CLEAN ENERGY IMPACTS THE ENVIRONMENT AROUND US

For those who want to start an EV charging station business, commercial-grade systems are more expensive but far more lucrative. Instead of taking 10 or more hours to charge the vehicle, most systems can charge a battery by up to 80% in just 1 to 4 hours. Therefore, these options are far more viable to build a business.

As the EV boom continues, the feasibility and profitability of an EV charging station is evident. With a bit of help from a reliable, reputable clean energy company and a touch of entrepreneurship, individuals can turn a business dream into a lucrative reality.
